Harry C Withers Elementary School Reviews

Great school! Great Teachers! Great Administration! And yes I agree, parent involvement is outstanding. I have never seen a more involved PTA, Dads club, Hispanic Group ever. Such a large parent involvement makes me want to be as active as I can to help out. I proudly take my two daughters there and know that when I drop them off in the morning they are excellent hands. Thank You Withers community for the excellent school.

The principal, teachers and parents work together to make this an extraordinary place for our children.

Experienced teachers, small class sizes, great support groups, dual language program, abundance of extra-cirrucla activities for a public school.

School is great because evryone works together as a team. From the principal, to the teachers, to the parents, to the students. Everyone is involved which is great and Iam very happy to be a part of that.

Withers' staff has really helped build the self confidence in my two children that currently attend. With the strong help and drive from the teachers, my 5th grader was able to achieve perfect TAKS test scores and has been accepted to attend a top rated magnet middle school for 6th grade. I know my kindergarten child will follow in the same footsteps with the continuing support of Wither's staff.

The reason I love Harry C. Withers is because it's such an awesome school. The teachers genuinely care for their students. Students here are involved in many activities put on by the teachers themselves. It's again just an awesome school. I wish every child could have a school like this to attend!

I have two children in school at Withers and I am extremely happy with the quality of education and level of professionalism and caring of all the teachers and staff. They are in a fantastic dual language program that is such an enrichment to every aspect of their curriculum. They are benefitting more from this program than I ever imagined.

Being a parent of 5 children who attended and still attending Withers for 12 years. My Two oldest are now 20 and 21 and my youngest in the 4th I would not have sent them to another elementary school the teachers are wonderful and the parent involvement amazing. We will always be Wild Cats in our hearts.

Our son is in the dual language program, and is attending kindergarten. We are very impressed with the exceptional teachers, and commitment of the school to quality education. Also, Withers has a very high level of parent participation.

Withers Elementary is a gem of school tucked away in a great Northwest Dallas neighborhood. Having experience with private and Tag schools, Withers has been an exceptional experience for us. The Dual Language program at Withers is a major plus in addition to the high quality teachers who are there. Having the opportunity for a kindergartener to begin his education learning two languages in a neighborhood, public school where the parents are very involved is truly a gift.

I have two children who are presently enrolled in Withers and another who will start in a couple of years. We moved into the neighborhood to convert from private school into the Withers/White attendance zone. The administration and faculty have worked together over the past few years to bring the school to an Exemplary Level. There is a lot of parent involvement and a lot of neighborhood school pride. My children are involved in several school related extra curricular activities ranging from Basketball to Orchestra to Chess Club. It has been an excellent decision for us.

Withers faculty is best in class and has consistently demonstrated authentic interest and passion for student enrichment. I find the curriculum and programs like the dual-language support an environment that enables every student to be challenged. Lastly - the parental involvement has been instrumental in the continued growth and academic accollades achieved recently by Withers.

My son is in Kindergarten at Withers and we are extremely happy. We live in the neighborhood and are so fortunate to have an exceptional school within walking distance from our home. The Dual-Language program is outstanding and is bringing back a lot of neighborhood families. We love Withers!

My daughter has attended Withers since Pre-K and she is now in the 1st grade. Withers is a wonderful school. The teachers there strive for the very best for their students. My daughter has learned so much and I have Ms. Fortner, Mrs. Sada & Ms. Cobb to thank for that. The PTA is on top of their game and the Dad's Club does a wonderful job. I also attended Withers when it reopened back in the 90's. Our family is very happy and proud of Withers!

I am very delighted with how my child has progressed while attending Withers; their bilingual program is excellent and has expanded my child's horizons for better and bigger opportunities. My daughter has learned so much, her constant improvement and her knowledge of both languages is evident on her way of writting and reading. I have to thank all her great teachers for their hard work, patience and support, Ms. Cuevas, Mr. Torres and Ms. Lugo ' thank you so much for making it happen, you are the best.' Withers is the exceptional , check it out, you be glad you did !

Dallas parents are faced with the private vs. public school dilemma. When it comes down to it, each DISD school needs to be assessed individually. Withers is a great school under the leadership of principal, Anita Hardwick. Teachers and staff are dedicated and caring. PTA and Dads' Club is working hard to involve more parents. Extra curricular at school is fantastic.

After spending the last eight years at Withers I am very sad to have my last child graduate. This school has given my children an incredible base to take with them to their future endeavors. Not only are the acedemics exceptional, but the entire staff cares about each individual student as a person as well. Withers builds strong kids by offering such things as: Destination Imagination, student council, choir, volleyball, basketball, track, cheerleading, ballet, and many book clubs. Everyone who is scared of the DISD should spend some time going to visit at 'Great' school!

My children are very happy at Withers! Parents and teachers work together to make the school exceptional. Mrs. Hardwick is a wonderful and caring principal. Challenging academics along with art, music and more. Strong PTA and Dads Club.

Say the words 'public school' and many think 'bad choice'. Not in this neighborhood! Withers Elementary is not only an option for neighborhood families, but a great one! To be great, you need a quality leader and Withers has just that in Anita Hardwick. Armed with an overwhelming expectation for success, Mrs. Hardwick sets about each day to ensure that the students intrusted to her care receive the best education possible. Her positive leadership translates into success in the classrooms. Withers' team of dedicated, skilled educators believe that teaching a well rounded curriculum will translate into academic success, making 'teaching to the test' an archaic concept. Students are being challenged to dare to dream big - to not just settle for average, but to strive to be the best. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their children's education. Wonderful things are happening at Withers. Go by and visit!

I have had all 4 of my children go through this school. I think this is a great school. The principal, Yolanda Rodriguez has made great strides in bringing this school to recognized status and on to exemplary! The increase in score show that the sraff and teachers are working together to educate all of the students.

We began attending Withers 5 years ago and have enjoyed most all aspects of the environment. You get out of it exactly what you put into it. We have some really experienced teachers and although most probably deserve recognition - I'll tip my hat to Mr. Voyles the Science teacher. He is INCREDIBLE!!

I have been a parent at Withers Elementary school for 13 years. Over the course of those years I have seen many administrative changes take place. And while those changes have occured, many of the basic principles that make Withers an excellent school have not changed. We have a strong, community based, support system with a high level of parent participation. We are blessed with an innovative and well educated staff who are committed to the well being of the whole child. Our Withers graduates have consistently made up a large part of the top 5 graduates at W. T. White High School. My husband and I picked this neighborhood 12 years ago because of the reputation of Withers Elementary and I am proud to say that we made the right choice.

My son joined Withers for the first time this year as a result of a move. Having been unimpressed with the diversity and overall quality of his previous school, I was looking forward to a nice change. However, I find myself disappointed in the school as a whole. The teachers are very book / worksheet based and linear thinking, which isnt condusive to helping students grasp abstract ideas. I have found the PTA and the Dads club to be very exclusive and only representive of a small fraction of the students that attend. In addition, concerns and requests asked of the school are slow to be answered and often not addressed. Blame is freely assigned elsewhere when problems arise. This, however, is typical of DISD as a whole. I am stongly considering private instruction for my son.
